Making mile 8 great.
I occasionally hear from brides that XYZ DJ Company is offering their services to them for $100-$200 less than mine and will I consider dropping my price to compete. Even worse they tell me that “their friend” is a DJ and giving them a good deal. Granted there are times this may work out for the client but in most cases things end poorly, hence the web site:

Enjoy, laugh, be shocked and realize that there is a reason professional entertainment companies like Promo Productions book 12-16 months out from your wedding day…
I was recently on a DJ forum I frequent quite often and saw that a popular contributor to the forum announced that a rare form of cancer that he beat had come back and is now terminal. I read his many posts and comments but never went to his personal business page until tonight.
One thing this individual always preached about was being professional and on top of your game. There were times I would pose questions and not always agree with the answers but knew I was getting a professional opinion. Often debates would come up about pricing and how some people don’t fully understand the value of a professional entertainer vs someone with an I-Pod and home stereo system.
In a world and area where people want everything as cheap or discounted as possible I thought his answer to the question below summed everything up perfectly.
“How much should you pay for a professional DJ?
The lowest price is often not the best value. Think about it. When
guests leave early due to an less than adequate DJ, much of the value
of everything you’ve spent on your venue, food, beverages and decor goes unenjoyed.”
“It’s not rocket science to push ‘play’”, he confesses. “The best DJ’s will do much more than that. It takes special skill, talent, planning and attention to balance all the traditional wedding events and formalities with a fun and social dancing celebration.”
“There are no do-overs for your wedding day! After all your months (or years) of planning, taking the time to find the right DJ will ultimately give you peace of mind and the security that your reception will be a worry-free and enjoyable event for you, your family and guests.”
While his time may on Earth may be limited I can say I truly learned a lot from the person. We never talked in person but the man spoke droves in words.
Happy Valentines Day everyone! My wife is away for mid-winter break, enjoying the warmth and sunshine of Florida. While she is away I am busy working on office paperwork, developing a new web site and updating my blog.
I had the chance to meet with a wonderful client today to talk about their upcoming August wedding. They are from out of town and were visiting family in Central New York this weekend so the timing was perfect.
We talked about several elements of their wedding day and during the discussion the subject of why they chose me to entertain at their wedding came up. It was simple: Piece of mind.
I was happy to know that this couple not only trusts my ability but also realizes while I am here to provide ideas and suggestions when asked it is ultimately THEIR day. I can do everything to make their dream reception come true while keeping the focus on the most important people: the bride and groom.
They mentioned how other companies they talked to seemed like they were about themselves or going to provide stress to the process and take over their wedding day. It was refreshing to meet a wonderful couple who understands the vision we have for each event we entertain at: Your Event, Your Way…
