Piece Of Mind…

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Happy Valentines Day everyone! My wife is away for mid-winter break, enjoying the warmth and sunshine of Florida. While she is away I am busy working on office paperwork, developing a new web site and updating my blog.

I had the chance to meet with a wonderful client today to talk about their upcoming August wedding.  They are from out of town and were visiting family in Central New York this weekend so the timing was perfect.

We talked about several elements of their wedding day and during the discussion the subject of why they chose me to entertain at their wedding came up.  It was simple: Piece of mind.

I was happy to know that this couple not only trusts my ability but also realizes while I am here to provide ideas and suggestions when asked it is ultimately THEIR day.  I can do everything to make their dream reception come true while keeping the focus on the most important people: the bride and groom.

They mentioned how other companies they talked to seemed like they were about themselves or going to provide stress to the process and take over their wedding day.  It was refreshing to meet a wonderful couple who understands the vision we have for each event we entertain at: Your Event, Your Way…

KTPG Update

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Hi everyone…

I wanted to drop a note on here to clarify what is happening with me and my morning fill-in on 97.9/105.5 KISS-FM.

As many of you know I work fulltime at Herkimer County Community College in the Admissions Office and was doing this plus my morning fill-in on KISS.  (basically working between both jobs from 5:30am-4:30pm over the summer).  On top of working both jobs I worked hard running my successful DJ company and planning a wedding with Tracy.

My agreement with management at KISS was that I would be happy to fill-in on-air through the summer but once the new students came back to school and it became time for me to head back out on the recruiting trail I would stop doing the morning show. That time has come and I thank them for the opportunity to have some fun again…

I spend a lot of time on the road, traveling four states and countless miles, working hard with prospective students and their families to let them know about the great things Herkimer has to offer.  While I will miss the morning show and all the great people I was able to reconnect with, I hope to continue my Saturday show and filling in for others when I am in town.

Thank you for all your emails, texts and notes on Facebook. There are really some great people in Central New York and I look forward to hearing from you still in different ways.  KTPG

We Did It: What A Day

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009
Wow it has finally happened: Tracy and I are married! As she lays here passed out in the hotel on our mini-honeymoon to Niagara Falls I decided to chime in with a quick wedding recap.

Our ceremony took place at the Sylvan Beach Union Chapel at 4pm on Friday, August 21st.  It was a little warm in the church as it has no air conditioning.  Halfway thru the 20 minute ceremony the Sylvan Beach Fire Department whistle went off drowning out the singing and music.  Other than the heat and whistle there we no other glitches. Tracy looked beautiful!

When we finished with the ceremony we did the picture thing. Photo’s all over the beach including in front of the water and at the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park where we went down the Super Slide, on the carosuel, played skee ball and rode the Galaxy roller coaster (funny moment was when our photographer Allen wasn’t quite ready for the jolt around turn one and we thought his camera was going to fly from the car).

Nothing beats a little skee ball on your wedding day!

After some fun at the beach it was time to return to the Radisson where we had our reception in the Garden Grill.  When we arrived around 7:15 most of our guests were already there. It was just awesome….  The hardest part was seeing so many people you wanted to say hi to you couldn’t get to because someone else was trying to snag you. If we missed anyone during the night I apologize now.

The appetizers were delicious! I made sure to get my fair share of the mini franks in puff pastry, sesame chicken, gouda cheese with crackers and scallops wrapped in bacon!  The best part of the night for many was the drink selection as we brought in MY Tiki Bar from the house and asked the hotel if we could use it to serve our guests.  As you can see below it was grand.

Around 8pm we lined up for introductions to the wedding. It was odd for me as I had lined up hundreds of other brides/grooms and wedding parties in the past but this was my own night and I wasn’t sure if I should line everyone up or let my guest emcee and DJ’s ”The Doctor” Jerry Kraus and Ryan “Bryan Lakes” Misencik do it. (Doc and I started doing parties together some 10 plus years ago and Lakes and I have worked at KISS forever).
Introduction songs and dances as followed:

Parents of Bride:  Instrumental mix of Ting Tings and Ridin Dirty
Parents of Groom: Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones
Usher and Maid of Honor: Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship
Best Man: Bad Boys by Inner Circle (he is a sherriff)
Tracy/Kenny: Michael Franti- Say Hey, I Love You
First Dance: Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait
Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Dance: What A Wonderful World
Pre-Toast: Do You Think I’m Sexy (I carried my mom to her table)
Cake Cutting: Grow Old With You and 20th Century Fox
Last Dance: New York, New York as the Yankees beat Boston 20-11

Everyone wondered if I would DJ my own wedding lol…  I programmed the cocktail and dinner music for the evening so Ryan and Jerry could enjoy the evening with their dates. Thank goodness for laptop technology as Ryan came up with pre-programmed music sets so he could have fun and dance too.  We left spaces for requests and it worked out great!

There were two things that I wish I could have done different: First, I wish I could have taken back playing that four extra holes of golf the Monday before the wedding. On hole 5 I hurt my back and kept playing.  I could hardly walk or sit or stand the rest of the week but Dr. Russ Williams put my back into shape.

The other change, while not possible, would be to slow down the night. It flew by! It’s funny how when you are playing a gig it feels like sometimes it is just not moving quickly but our night zipped right along!

Our complete collection of photos and slideshow are now online.  You can see them the following ways:

I guess it is time for me to crash too!  Thank you to our families, friends and everyone involved.  It was a great night! KTPG
