Why Pay A Little More?

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I occasionally hear from brides that XYZ DJ Company is offering their services to them for $100-$200 less than mine and will I consider dropping my price to compete.    Even worse they tell me that “their friend” is a DJ and giving them a good deal.  Granted there are times this may work out for the client but in most cases things end poorly, hence the web site:

Enjoy, laugh, be shocked and realize that there is a reason professional entertainment companies like Promo Productions book 12-16 months out from your wedding day…

Piece Of Mind…

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Happy Valentines Day everyone! My wife is away for mid-winter break, enjoying the warmth and sunshine of Florida. While she is away I am busy working on office paperwork, developing a new web site and updating my blog.

I had the chance to meet with a wonderful client today to talk about their upcoming August wedding.  They are from out of town and were visiting family in Central New York this weekend so the timing was perfect.

We talked about several elements of their wedding day and during the discussion the subject of why they chose me to entertain at their wedding came up.  It was simple: Piece of mind.

I was happy to know that this couple not only trusts my ability but also realizes while I am here to provide ideas and suggestions when asked it is ultimately THEIR day.  I can do everything to make their dream reception come true while keeping the focus on the most important people: the bride and groom.

They mentioned how other companies they talked to seemed like they were about themselves or going to provide stress to the process and take over their wedding day.  It was refreshing to meet a wonderful couple who understands the vision we have for each event we entertain at: Your Event, Your Way…

How Much Do You Cost??

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

That seems to be the first thing clients like to ask when they inquire about my entertainment services… They often fail to tell me about the type of event, where it is going to be held or how long the event is going to be. Those are important factors in determining my prices for each event I perform at.

Once I gather that information I am able to piece together what I think is a competitive quote for my services.  I understand I don’t fit in everyone’s price range and price is an important factor in determining many people’s wedding entertainment but it shouldn’t be the only thing one looks into.

When we buy a car, a TV or computer we often research the internet, talk to friends and then make a informed decision.  The same should be done when booking wedding entertainment.  Sometimes cheaper is better but many times the saying “you get what you pay for” comes into play.

I have had some potential clients tell me that I am outside of their budget only to have the next person who calls or inquires online tell me they thought my services were more expensive than what I quoted them.  I have actually lost gigs to other DJ’s because clients felt that my price was low and my services therefore were low end.

If you are pricing wedding entertainment or a DJ for any event I encourage you to ask questions and get to know your potential DJ before simply asking for the price.  Not every entertainer is the same and you may be amazed at the things you learn about the company you are looking at.

To see what some of the common questions to ask are (with my answers) please check out my FAQ page by clicking here.  Best of luck in planning your event and feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions you may have!
